I'm not a big fan of winter and snow, but I LOVE the holidays and all of the traditions that come with it, and that makes the cold weather just a tiny bit more enjoyable for me. Every year the holidays come and our calendar fills up with parties, shopping and other activities. And every year, we miss out on traditions that we've always wanted to do. We also usually miss out on date night, because we forget to plan it into our schedules and before we know it, every single day is filled with other commitments. This year though, that's not going to be the case because we are planning ahead!
Last year, I finally got an advent calendar put together, after six years of marriage, thanks to the amazing design work of my friend Elise of Elise Creates. This coming weekend, my husband and I are going to sit down and plan out our month of family fun and date nights. We'll go through the list of traditions that we each brought from our childhood, the ones that we've created together in our marriage, and the few things that we've always wanted to do and never get the chance to. There are even a couple of new activities that I just found out about this year and want to add to our list for this year and possibly future years if we love them.
Over 35 Davis County Christmas Activities
You all know that my passion is finding fresh and fun things to do in the Davis County area so not only am I sharing my advent calendar with all of you as a free download, I've put together a list of almost 40 date night ideas for the holiday. You can enjoy these activities as a couple, as a family or with a group of friends. I should mention that this list isn't just a simple list of activities, I've added little details to each activity to turn it into a date night. Three whole pages of this printable are filled with date ideas based off of local events and seasonal activities.
My advent calendar is put together for the entire month of December, but you have the freedom to make your advent fit your traditions or needs! Create a 12 day countdown, or even just one date a week leading up to Christmas (that'd be four dates). The template isn't numbered to allow you to tailor it to your personal preference. Be sure to print out the number of envelopes and cards that you'll need for your countdown. I printed two sets of each design for the 12 day pendant banner countdown and four sets for my 25 days of Christmas countdown, which actually only has 24 envelopes on it...
Some of the activities that I'm really looking forward to completing are; Hayrides in the Park, the Lights on Sherwood Drive, outdoor ice skating at Station Park and an evening enjoying all of the Downtown Salt Lake activities, among all of the others that we have planned. Be sure to watch our Instagram stories to see what we're up to throughout the month!
Which activities are you looking forward to adding to your advent calendar this year?
