Pirates of Penzance at CenterPoint Legacy Theatre

When I was in 8th grade, I was in our junior high musical theater class production of Pirates of Penzance. We rehearsed and performed at Rodgers Memorial Theatre in Centerville. It's a memory that I'll look back on fondly for my entire life. When I found out that CenterPoint Legacy Theatre was going to be putting on this fun musical by Gilbert and Sullivan as part of their 2018 season, I knew that we had to go. We got a babysitter and headed out for an afternoon date this past weekend and had a really great time together.

Where: CenterPoint Legacy Theatre (525 N 400 W, Centerville)
Cost: Tickets starting at $14

Pirates of Penzance at CenterPoint Legacy Theatre

The costumes for this show were so fun and really well done. I loved that they posted the lyrics for the songs on a board above the stage and made it easier to understand the humor of the show. The songs are fun and the scenery is really well done. We have loved every show that we've seen at CenterPoint and suggest this one if you get a chance before it closes at the end of the month.

I highly recommend a matinee at CenterPoint Theatre. This is our second matinee date and it is becoming my favorite. We love taking advantage of the time that our kids are napping, and catching an early dinner afterward. When we grab an early dinner, we are able to take advantage of some of the lower priced appetizers, meals or desserts. Sometimes matinees cost a few dollars less than the night shows as well.

We ended our night with an early dinner at Tortilla Union in Farmington Station Park. I tried them out earlier this year with a friend but I was excited to finally take my husband there for date night. You can click here to read my full review from our last visit. I am going to be compiling a new post soon with all of my favorites from their menu! I will still always recommend The Trio for an appetizer, it's a must order!
