Eighty percent of the world’s population live under light polluted skies. What do we lose when we lose sight of the stars? Excessive and improper lighting robs us of our night skies, disrupts our sleep patterns and endangers nocturnal habitats.

Saving the Dark is a documentary on the need to preserve night skies and ways to combat light pollution. Being passionate about astronomy and the night skies, Sriram Murali, the Director of the film, took it upon himself to raise awareness on light pollution through videos and films. Sriram volunteers for the International Darksky Association and made this film in collaboration with the them. Everyone that worked on the film volunteered for it and Sriram gives the film out for free for all educational uses. Please reach out to him if you'd like to screen this elsewhere. Thank you.

Viewing of the film is free. Park entrance fees apply. Following the film, we will be doing a short night sky program.
