Romantic Ice Skating Date in Davis County

When I think about romantic winter date nights, I think of ice skating! Ice rinks are the center of a lot of different date nights in some classic movies. Buddy and Jovi in Elf, Jonathon and Sara in Serendipity, Luke and Lorelai in Gilmore Girls, are just a few that come to my mind. If you’ve ever wanted that bundled up, nighttime ice skating experience for date night, you’re in luck! Bountiful has an outdoor ice skating opportunity during the winter months, as well as an indoor rink you can enjoy all year round! Here are some tips for making a date of it!

Ice Skating Date in Davis County

Outdoor ice skating on the Bountiful Ice Ribbon

Where: Bountiful Town Square (55 E 100 S, Bountiful)
When:
Cost:
$3-$7 per adult, plus $3 for skate rental

It’s not your typical ice rink, but the Bountiful Ice Ribbon is a fun place to hang out! They call it the “lazy river of ice” and it’s perfect for a low-key winter date night. Grab your skates and glide across the ice together, holding hands, listening to the music, and enjoying each other’s company.

Indoor ice skating on the Bountiful Ice Rink

Where: South Davis Recreation Center (550 N 200 W, Bountiful)
When:
Cost:
$7 per adult, plus $3 for skate rental

The indoor ice rink at the South Davis Rec Center isn’t dependent on outdoor weather like the ice ribbon can be. The hours are more flexible, and it can be just as fun as outdoor ice skating, without the potentially frigid temperatures. If that’s more your style, it’s a great option for a date night activity.

Get a cup of hot cocoa

Where: Click here to find a great place for hot cocoa in your area
Cost:
~$3-$5 per cup

The best way to warm up after a cold date night activity is with a cup of warm hot cocoa. Davis County has a lot of great locations for hot cocoa, whether you want to sit inside or take it to go, and whether you enjoy thick and creamy chocolate or a lighter drink with some flavor. Grab some frozen hot chocolate

Where: Twisted Sugar (25 W Parrish Lane, Centerville) or Dairy Queen (527 S 700 W, Woods Cross)
Cost:
~$3-$5

We don’t have a Serendipity near us to grab a frozen hot chocolate from, but the two options we do have are still delicious! One of Twisted Sugar’s ice cream twisters is the Frozen Hot Chocolate. It’s similar to a smoothie and one of my favorite things on their menu. It’s an ice cream based, blended with hot chocolate, and topped with whipped cream. You could also stop by Dairy Queen in Woods Cross for their Frozen Hot Chocolate. That one is rich cocoa fudge blended with DQ’s soft serve and topped with whipped cream.

Ice skating might seem like a cliche date, but it’s also a classic! It’s like the bowling of winter, something everyone should do at least once a season. The Bountiful Ice Rink is on our date night list for this winter, add it to yours as well!
