The classic date often includes a meal and an activity. Maybe dinner and a movie, lunch and bowling, or your favorite activity with a treat afterward. You might not always have the time needed to enjoy those specific activities on your dates, and you don’t need to. Who doesn’t love a good dessert date? Sometimes all you have time to do together is grab something quick, and a treat fits the bill. There are many different places you could go to get a treat. Everything from cookies to ice cream to donuts or something fancier. The list below includes some classic treats you can enjoy on your next date night, as well as some unique ones you might not always think about.
Parson's Bakery

If you like baked goods, Parson’s Bakery is the place to go for your dessert date. They have pastries, donuts, cookies, pies, and even some savory sandwiches. Just looking at the menu on their website makes my mouth water. Parson’s is a great place to stop for a quick treat together!
Nielsen’s Frozen Custard

With a location in Bountiful and in Layton, Nielsen’s is a great place to stop for a frozen treat! Their frozen custard is delicious on its own and even better with a variety of add-ins. I’m a big fan of chocolate custard with either Oreos or English toffee pieces blended in. But there’s something for everyone and any flavor you love!
Twigs
155 N E Promontory, Farmington
One of my favorite dates is grabbing dessert from Twigs and eating it by the fountains at Station Park. Their Drunkin’ Donuts are at the top of my list, along with the Sticky Cookie. But they offer a variety of different desserts you can enjoy together inside the restaurant, out on the patio or ordered for takeout and eaten closer to the fountains. On my list to try is the Midnight Snack Banana Split.
The Pie Pantry @ Cherry Hill
1247 S Main St, Kaysville
When Cherry Hill is open for the season, the Pie Pantry is open as well. They offer full pies, slices of pies, and frozen yogurt. But something that could be fun to pick up after a round of mini-golf, or just as you’re driving by, is one of their pie pockets. Pie pockets come in a few different fruit flavors and are basically a hand pie, so perfect to split so you can try a couple of different flavors.
Berry Station
283 N Flint St, Kaysville
If you love frozen yogurt, you’ll love Berry Station! In addition to great yogurt flavors and all of your favorite toppings, they have other dessert options as well. Try something like one of their Bubble Waffles or Cookie Melts.
Rooster’s

The dessert menu at Rooster’s in Layton is small but mighty! Bread pudding, turtle pie, mint chocolate mousse cake, and oreo cheesecake. They all sound amazing!

If you can make date night happen in the middle of the afternoon or later in the evening, you will often be able to take advantage of discounted appetizers at various restaurants. But sometimes you just want a snack, and to take a walk together, or sit in your car and watch a comedy sketch. There’s something about the food at Hug-Hes that is really good! I’m a big fan of their Spinach Artichoke Dip and the sweet potato waffle fries. It’s hard not to go for an entire meal when you look at their menu, but they have so many good things you can get for an appetizer date!
Kitchen 88

I have some friends who ordered each of the appetizers and sides on the menu at Kitchen 88 one day, just to try them, and said they were all unique and delicious. Go for a little taste test, or pick just one to split!
Louie’s Pizzeria
1095 North Main Street, Layton
When I tell you the Cheese Bread at Louie’s is lifechanging, I’m not exaggerating. I’d go just for that and a few arcade games! They also have breadsticks, jalapeno popper breadsticks, and cherry pepper popper bread. It’s a great place to go if you like savory appetizers.

Keva Juice & Great Harvest

Keva is a Bountiful classic with the best smoothies in the area. While they blend your smoothie, pop into Great Harvest Bread next door for a slice of bread. There isn’t a lot of seating inside either store but walking down Bountiful Main Street and back while you chat and enjoy your treat makes a great date. Or take your smoothie on a drive up 500 S to Bountiful Boulevard to chat while you watch the sun set in the distance.
Thirst

I’m not a soda drinker, but Thirst is my favorite of the soda shops because of their snacks and treats! The beignets, pretzel bites, and weekly features are always a win. Both Davis County locations now have indoor seating and a drive thru.
Dairy Queen

DQ was the place to hang out in high school, especially after games or concerts or performances. And our go to orders were always some sort of ice cream with a small fry and fry sauce. It’s a date I still go on regularly with my husband when our kids are at their extracurriculars and can’t be beat.

This is one of my favorite places to go for a sweet or savory treat! I love their savory waffles, and their chicken is surprisingly amazing! But their sweet waffles are always a win as well. Don’t miss out on the seasonal specials because they don’t hang around long, but they’re worth a visit. They even have a Date Waffle perfect for this type of occasion!
