Davis County Fall Break Ideas for Families: Local Fun & Adventures
Explore Antelope Island
Even if the weather isn’t picture-perfect this Fall Break, a trip to Antelope Island State Park is a great way to get out of the house and explore the beauty right here in Davis County. Entrance is $10 per vehicle, and once you’re on the island, you can spend the day driving the scenic roads, hiking the trails, and spotting wildlife (buffalo, antelope, and more!). Just remember: admire the wildlife from a safe distance.
Before the season wraps up, don’t miss a chance to grab a bison burger from the Island Buffalo Grill. And if the skies clear, stick around after dark for some of the best stargazing in Utah at Davis County’s very own International Dark Sky Park.
Play at a Fall Festival
Davis County is home to so many fun fall festivals and seasonal events, and Fall Break is the perfect time to enjoy them. Whether your family is after cozy fall vibes, pumpkin-filled fun, or a spooky adventure, there’s something local you’ll love. Check out our full list of fall events and activities in Davis County here. From pumpkin walks and food festivals to corn mazes and trick-or-treat nights, you’ll find plenty of ways to fill your break with memories.
Pro Tip: Fall weather can be unpredictable. Before you go, double-check the social media pages for the festival you’re planning to attend. Hours and details can change quickly if the weather doesn’t cooperate.
Visit Your Local Library
Having fun isn’t hard… when you have a library card! But the truth is, you don’t even need one to enjoy all that the Davis County libraries have to offer. There’s always something happening, from scavenger hunts in the children’s section and storytime for littles to creative activities for teens and adults.
This Fall Break, here are a few highlights across the county:
Headquarters Library – Farmington (133 S. Main Street): Try the “Guess the Children’s Book” challenge or create some String Art (Teens & Tweens) during open hours.
Layton Branch (155 N. Wasatch Dr.): Take on Library Quest, a mystery/escape-room-style adventure designed for teens and adults.
Clearfield Branch (1 N. Main Street): Explore the powerful Holocaust Exhibit, available during library hours.
If we were planning a Fall Break library date, we’d pick one of these activities, browse the shelves for a new family read-aloud or date-night book, and head home with hot cocoa to start reading together. Be sure to check the Davis County Library website or ask at the circulation desk for the latest schedules and activities!
Pizza & Arcade Games at Louie’s Pizzeria & Main Street Arcade
Looking for an indoor activity to balance out the chilly (or unpredictable) fall weather? Head to Louie’s Pizzeria in Layton and enjoy delicious pizza paired with some good old-fashioned fun at the adjoining Main Street Arcade. This spot has been a favorite for both date night and family outings. We first tried it as a couple’s bucket list idea, and we loved it so much that we had to bring the kids along. Between the tasty pizza and the endless arcade games, everyone leaves feeling happy and a little competitive!
When we went during Spring Break, we ordered our pizza and then filled up on quarters so we could all play while waiting for our food. After we ate, the kids ran back and forth between the arcade and our table, checking in between games while we got a chance to sit and talk. It turned into the perfect mix of family fun + parent downtime.
Pro Tip: Bring quarters with you, or cash to redeem at the machine just inside the arcade entrance, it makes jumping into the fun a lot easier! Click here to read more about our date night at Louie’s and why we think it’s a perfect option for Fall Break family fun, too.
Laugh with The Improvables
If your crew is up for a late night, head to The Improvables for a family-friendly improv comedy show. They perform every Friday at 9:00 p.m. at Backstage Performing Arts (803 N. 1250 W., Centerville), and the shows are always full of laughs and surprises. Tickets are affordable, too: free for children up to age 7, $5 for ages 8–14, $6 for military personnel, medical professionals, seniors, students, and teachers, and $8 for adults.
If we were planning this for Fall Break, we’d grab some dessert after dinner, then head over to the show and let the kids stay up late for a night of comedy. It’s a fun way to make Fall Break feel special without breaking the bank.
Pro Tip: Check The Improvables’ social media each week for show themes and updates before you go! Click here to check out their Facebook page.
Travel to a New Playground
Sometimes the best Fall Break adventures are the simple ones, like exploring a new playground in Davis County that your kids haven’t visited yet. Pack a picnic to enjoy on a blanket in the grass or under a shaded pavilion, then let the kids loose to play. Bonus points if you join in the fun and climb, swing, or race across the play structures alongside them. But it’s just as enjoyable to relax nearby, catching up with your spouse while the kids play within sight. Either way, everyone wins!
Not sure where to start? Here are a few of the most unique playgrounds in Davis County to add to your Fall Break adventure list:
Creekside Park (600 Mill St., Bountiful)
Island View Park (750 E 550 S, Centerville)
Nicholls Park (1001 Nicholls Rd., Fruit Heights)
Pioneer Park (1285 S Angel St., Kaysville)
Neldon Hamblin Park (90 W 200 S, Clearfield)

Play at Station Park
Station Park is a fun place to spend time any season, but Fall Break is especially great if the weather is nice. There are plenty of stores to browse, like Barnes & Noble, The LEGO Store, It’Sugar, and Teton Toys. You don’t have to spend a dime to enjoy some window shopping, but if you have a small budget, let each family member pick a little toy, book, or treat to make the outing even more fun.
This month, Station Park is hosting a Monster Scavenger Hunt. Pick up the scavenger list at Concierge Services during mall hours, complete the hunt, and return it for a prize! Afterward, grab a snack or treat and enjoy the fountain show, let the kids play on the playground, or even catch a matinee movie before heading home.
