Fall is my favorite season, hands down! Every year I get excited for summer and claim it’s the best, but the moment fall shows up—cooler weather, rainstorms, changing leaves—I remember where my heart really is. There’s something magical about this season! Fall is also full of new routines, cozy traditions, and a lot of celebrations in our house (both my husband’s and my birthdays!). The weather is perfect for getting outside, and Davis County is packed with things to do.
I wish the festivities lasted all the way through November, but I’ll take every chance I get to soak up the season. That’s why I’ve rounded up all the best fall date night ideas to help you do the same. Over two months of fun, right in your own backyard! Support local, make memories, and enjoy the beauty of Davis County this fall.
Davis County Fall Activities for Date Night
See the Fall Leaves
It might be the most obvious fall date idea, but it’s also one of the best! Take a drive or hike in the mountains while the colors are at their peak, then enjoy walks along valley trails as the changing colors drift down. Every stage of the season is worth experiencing up close.

Drink Hot Chocolate
One of the best parts of cooler weather is having an excuse to sip hot chocolate, whether you make it at home or grab a cup from a local shop. One of my favorite date ideas on the site is a Hot Chocolate Tasting Date, complete with a list of the best spots in Davis County to get your cocoa fix.
This year, I’m planning to stretch the fun all season long by trying a new place each week for date night until we find our ultimate favorite. Why not turn it into your own sweet tradition, too?

Visit a Fall Festival
There’s nothing quite like a fall festival: Pumpkins, corn mazes, tasty fall treats, and plenty of seasonal fun. My favorites are the ones hosted at local farms because they’re not only fun, they also support our local farmers and community. Check out our roundup of Davis County fall festivals to plan your next date night full of crisp air, comfort food, and autumn adventure.

Bake a Fall Treat Together
Spend an afternoon in the kitchen making something warm and seasonal. Apple crisp, pumpkin bread, or even a big pot of soup are all great ideas. The best part? You get to enjoy the smell while it bakes and then dig in together once it’s ready. Pick out a game to play while your treat bakes or cooks, or even curl up and read a book together.
Carve or Decorate Pumpkins
Whether you love carving pumpkins or prefer decorating them without the mess, it’s a fall date night classic. Half the fun is picking them out together! Davis County has plenty of local pumpkin patches where you can find the perfect one. Check out our list of pumpkin patches and decorating ideas to plan your own festive night in.

Before it gets too chilly, sneak in a few more meals outside! Try dining on the patio at one of your favorite local spots (we love the options at Station Park) or pack a picnic to enjoy after a hike or scenic drive. For inspiration, check out our list of patio dining locations in Davis County. Pair it with a little leaf peeping and you’ve got the perfect fall date.

Make Caramel Apples
Nothing says fall like caramel apples topped with your favorite candies. Start by picking up fresh apples from a local orchard or farm stand, then grab caramels and toppings from the store. Spend the evening decorating (and taste-testing!) your creations together, then enjoy them while you curl up for a scary movie or sit outside and watch a fall storm roll in
Go Fishing
Fishing is a great date any time of year, but there’s something extra peaceful about casting a line on a crisp fall day. Bundle up, pack some snacks, and enjoy the calm together by the water. Need ideas on where to go? Check out our guide to fishing spots in Davis County.

Visit a Farmer’s Market
Fall farmers’ markets are filled with fresh produce, baked goods, and handmade treats. Wander the booths together, pick up seasonal favorites like apples or squash, and snack your way through a cozy morning date while supporting local vendors.
Attend a Football Game
Few things feel more like fall than football under the lights. Cheer on your favorite local high school team or plan a bigger outing for a college game. Bring a blanket, grab some snacks, and enjoy the crisp air and lively atmosphere together.
Worth the Trip
Sundance Lift Rides
A few years ago we crossed a bucket-list activity off and went on a Full Moon Lift Ride at Sundance Resort. It did not disappoint! The views were incredible, and I’ve been dreaming of going back for an afternoon ride when the fall colors are at their peak. Pair it with a short hike, dinner at the resort, and then wrap up the evening with another Full Moon Lift Ride for the perfect mountain date night.
Snowbird Mountain Coaster
This one shot straight to my list when I saw it on Instagram! Snowbird’s mountain coaster is over 3,000 feet long, with carts that stay on the track and let you control the speed. October feels like the perfect time to try it, racing down the mountain with the crisp fall air on your face and autumn colors all around you.
North Logan Pumpkin Walk + Brunch at Herm’s Inn
Make a fall day trip out of Logan! Start with brunch at Herm’s Inn, a cozy historic spot near the mouth of Logan Canyon that serves one of the best breakfasts in Utah. Then head to the North Logan Pumpkin Walk, where you’ll find creative, funny, and elaborate pumpkin scenes.. It’s free, festive, and guaranteed to leave you smiling. Together, it’s the perfect mix of cozy comfort food and classic fall fun that’s worth the drive north.
Provo River Parkway Bike Ride
Head south for a bike ride along the Provo River Parkway. The paved trail runs through some of the most stunning canyon scenery, and fall is the perfect time to take it all in at a slower pace.
Park City Main Street + Alpine Coaster
Spend an afternoon strolling historic Main Street in Park City. It’s gorgeous in the fall with the mountains glowing in color. Pair it with the Alpine Coaster at Park City Mountain for a thrill, or cozy up at one of the many local restaurants for dinner.
Heber Valley Railroad + Midway Stroll
For a truly memorable fall date, head to Heber Valley for a scenic ride on the Heber Valley Railroad. The train winds through mountain views, open fields, and colorful canyons, perfect for soaking in Utah’s autumn beauty. Afterward, make a stop in Midway, where you can wander the charming Swiss-inspired town, grab a treat from a local bakery, or enjoy dinner before heading home. It’s a cozy mix of adventure and romance, and definitely worth the trip!
