Post updated October 2025.
I’ll be honest, being scared isn’t really my thing. So you won’t find me wandering dark haunted trails or braving jump scares this October. But I know many of you love the Halloween season and all the spooky fun that comes with it.
While Davis County has plenty of family-friendly fall festivals and pumpkin patches, there are also plenty of ways to test your courage if you’re looking for something a little darker. From haunted corn mazes to chilling trails, these local haunts are ready to make your heart race.
You’ve got just a few weeks to enjoy the spooky madness, so gather your bravest friends, or your date who doesn’t mind being clung to, and step into the scares!
Haunted Attractions in Davis County
Frightmares
Where: Lagoon, Farmington (375 North Lagoon Dr, Farmington)
When: September 5 - November 9
This is one of the best-known spooky attractions in Davis County. Every fall, Lagoon unveils Frightmares, dubbed “the dark side of Lagoon.” The park transforms into a mix of haunted houses, eerie mazes, and frightening fun for all ages.
If you prefer atmosphere without the scares, you’re not left out! Grab a No Scare Glow Stick to keep ghouls at bay, explore the designated No Scare Zones for younger visitors, or try one of three attractions designed to bring the spooky vibes without the jump scares.
Prices and hours for different Frightmares attractions vary and new experiences are added each year. Visit their website for details about every attraction, recommended ages, and the scare level you can expect.
Hour of Darkness Corn Maze in Farmington
Cost: $9.64 for non spooky, $22.50 for general admission
Where: 1700 W Glovers Lane, Farmington (next to Pack Farms)
When: Open Thursday-Saturday through November 1st. Hours vary.
Next to Pack Farms Pumpkin Patch in Farmington lurks the Hour of Darkness Haunted Trail, a corn maze experience that’s not for the faint of heart. As night falls, the maze transforms into a chilling walk through shadows and scares, where every turn holds a new surprise.
For those who want the ambience without the terror, Saturdays from 1–4 p.m. offer the Scaredy-Cat Trail. This is a daylight pass that allows you to explore the haunted corn maze without encountering actors or jump scares. It’s the perfect way to soak up the atmosphere without the fright.
Nightmare Acres
Cost: $14-$30, depending on other activities you want to enjoy
Where: Black Island Farms (2075 S 4000 W, Syracuse)
When: Open until October 31st (Nightmare Acres available Thursdays from 7 pm to 10 pm and Fridays/Saturdays from 7 pm to 11 pm)
When the sun goes down in Syracuse, the fields of Black Island Farms take a terrifying turn. Their haunted corn maze, known as Nightmare Acres, winds through four acres of towering corn where shadows play tricks on your eyes and every corner might hide a scare. Recommended for ages 12 and up (or brave adults who don’t mind a few screams), it’s one of the most chilling experiences in Davis County.
To turn up the intensity, Nightmare Acres has added Zombie Apocalypse Laser Tag in recent years. It’s a heart-pounding twist that lets you battle the undead as you make your way through the maze. Between the jump scares, eerie atmosphere, and zombie encounters, this haunted attraction is a must for thrill-seekers.
Halloween Nights of Terror - Spooky Escape Rooms
Where: Great Room Escapes - 525 Ring Road, Layton
When: Business hours through October
Cost: $29.95 per person
Step inside Great Room Escape in Layton this October and you’ll find thrills beyond the usual puzzles. Their most infamous room, The Cabin, is already considered their scariest experience. It is played in the dark, filled with eerie details, and not for the faint of heart. But this month, it gets even darker. Nights of Terror has returned, bringing two new killers into the cabin to surprise players at random. Book this room in October and you’ll never know who (or what) is waiting for you next.
⚠️ Caution: The Cabin is their most intense escape game, with depictions of death and mild gore. It’s best suited for adults who love haunted houses and scary movies—not younger players or anyone who avoids frightening themes.
For those who want spooky ambience without the jump scares, Great Room Escape also offers:
Ghost Hotel – Investigate the haunted halls of the abandoned Hotel Clairmont and help five lost souls find peace.
Vampire – Enter the lair of a powerful vampire and race against time to uncover the sacred weapon that can defeat him.
No matter which game you choose, you’ll only have an hour to escape.
Haunted Kay's Cross
Cost: Unknown
Where: 388 Boynton Road, Kaysville
When: Dates and times aren’t listed for this year. Give them a call if you want to visit.
Hidden deep in Kay’s Hollow in Kaysville sits the infamous Kay’s Cross, a towering stone monument surrounded by decades of legend and ghost stories. Some say the hollow is haunted by spirits tied to the strange history of the cross, while others are drawn simply by the eerie atmosphere of the secluded woods.
In past years, guided tours have been offered, blending local lore with a trek to the cross itself. Whether you’re a believer in the paranormal or just curious about Davis County’s most well-known haunted spot, a visit to Kay’s Hollow makes for a truly chilling adventure.
