This is a date idea I first shared a couple of years ago, but it’s worth repeating, and it’s fun any time of year! There’s just something about flannel and barbecue that feels especially cozy in November.
There’s something about plaid shirts, smoky barbecue, and a round of axe throwing that feels perfectly November. It’s fun, cozy, and a little adventurous all at once. Visit a Bookstore
Late fall is the perfect time to cozy up with a good book, and it makes for a surprisingly fun date night, too! Many Late fall is the perfect season to wander the aisles of a bookstore together, pick out something new to read, and maybe even start a winter reading list as a couple. Barnes & Noble in Station Park and Layton are both great stops with plenty of books and games to explore. If you’d rather keep it local, try The Book Garden in Bountiful, Kaysville Bookstore, or Eborn Books in Layton Hills Mall. Find a cozy corner, sip something warm, and let the night slow down. Soup and Soup Bowls
Nothing says November comfort quite like soup in a bread bowl. Stop by a local bakery like Parson’s, Dick’s, or Bowman’s to grab freshly baked soup bowls, then pair them with your favorite soup (homemade or takeout works just as well!). Light some candles, put on a podcast or soft music, and enjoy a cozy, flavorful dinner together. It’s simple, seasonal, and perfect for when you want a slower night in.
Hot Chocolate Date
There’s something romantic about wrapping your hands around a warm mug when the weather turns chilly. Hot cocoa and fresh cookies feel like the perfect fall and winter treat, and they make a sweet excuse to linger a little longer together. Try a local shop for a cozy night out, sip your cocoa while you drive around, and enjoy the crisp November air, or bring it home for a quiet evening after the kids go to bed. Gratitude Date
Celebrate the spirit of Thanksgiving with a date night centered around gratitude. Bundle up for a walk together and talk about the people, places, and moments you’re thankful for this year. Or spend the evening baking a simple treat, writing thank-you notes, and delivering them to friends or family who’ve made an impact on your life. You could also keep it just between the two of you. Put on some music, share a favorite dessert, and write heartfelt letters to each other. Exchange and read them aloud, then tuck them away as keepsakes to revisit in the future.
Friendsgiving Dinner
Gather your closest couple friends for a Friendsgiving celebration the week before Thanksgiving. You can host at home and make it a potluck so everyone brings a dish to share, or choose a favorite restaurant and enjoy the night out together. Add a little extra meaning by playing games, sharing the things you’re most grateful for this past year, and talking about what you’re looking forward to in the year ahead. It’s a fun way to connect with friends before the holiday hustle begins.
Holiday Gift Shopping
The holiday rush is coming, but getting a head start can turn stress into fun. Plan a date night dedicated to tackling your gift list together. Set your budget, make your lists, and block out a few hours to shop. Start with dinner at one of your favorite restaurants to fuel up, then dive into the stores (or even online browsing side by side). End the evening with a sweet treat, and set another date for wrapping everything up together. It will keep the holiday spirit going and turn a to-do into quality time.

It’s simple, relaxing, and gives you plenty of time to talk and connect while your puzzle slowly comes together.
