November Date Ideas - Fall Fun Doesn't End

November is one of those weird in-between months. December holiday fun doesn’t start until the end of the month. Winter activities aren’t up and going until December. All of the Halloween activities are over for the season. And a lot of the fall activities you can enjoy aren’t as plausible when it gets colder, the leaves have all fallen, and we get the occasional early snow storm. So what do you do for date night in November? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered! In this post, you’ll find general date ideas that are perfect for colder weather days. You’ll also see date ideas for the Thanksgiving holiday coming up and in preparation for the holiday season that hits in December.

Support Community Theater

Live theater is one of my favorite date night activities. We love enjoying a show together and discussing it afterward. You can choose a musical or a play and pick something suspenseful, comedic, inspirational, or thought-provoking. Regardless of the show you choose, your date is sure to be enjoyable and entertaining. This first weekend of November 2023, Hopebox is opening Into the Woods, and On Pitch Performing Arts is opening Spamalot. Both are great shows! Visit our upcoming events page for future shows you can plan for date night, including holiday-themed shows starting towards the end of November.

Axe Throwing and Barbecue

This is a date idea that I shared a year ago for the fall. It’s fun all year round, but there’s something about flannel and barbecue that feels cozy and fun this time of year. Davis County has a couple of axe throwing locations and a handful of great barbecue joints you’ll want to check out. Click here for a post with that information! I think this will be our outside the house, hire a babysitter date this month.

Visit a Bookstore

Late fall is the perfect time to cozy up with a good book, and it’s a great date night activity as well! Many bookstores have places where you can sit and read the books you find and plan to purchase. There are a lot of bookstores in Davis County you can support. Barnes and Noble at Station Park or in Layton is a lot of fun and has lots of book and game options. If you want to support smaller bookstores check out The Book Garden in Bountiful, Kaysville Bookstore, or Eborn Books in the Layton Hills Mall. Click here for more ideas to plan your bookstore date.

Soup and Soup Bowls

Visit a local bakery like Parsons, Dick’s, or Bowmans and pick up freshly baked soup bowls. Then pick up your very favorite soup to enjoy in your soup bowls. You could also make your own soup and/or soup bowls at home ahead of time or as part of your date. Dim the lights, sit somewhere cozy, and talk or listen to a podcast while you enjoy your delicious fall meal.

Hot Chocolate Date

It’s the time of year when hot chocolate and warm cookies replace ice cream and snow cones as everyone’s treat of choice. Research where to get the best cup of hot chocolate near you and go check it out! You can sit and enjoy your hot chocolate on site, drive around while you drink it, or bring it home to share after the kids go to bed. Gratitude Date

Celebrate the Thanksgiving season with a date night focused on gratitude. Take a walk together and express gratitude for where you live and other pieces of your life while you walk. Make a treat and simple thank you cards and take them to family and friends who have had an impact on your life this past year. Write thank you notes to people in your life and mail them out. Or turn on some music and enjoy your favorite treat while you write thank you notes or letters to each other. After your letters are finished read them out loud and exchange them so you can keep and read them in the future.

Friendsgiving Dinner

Invite a group of your closest couple friends to join you for Friendsgiving the week before Thanksgiving. Host it in your home and have everyone bring a contribution. Or pick a restaurant you’ll all love and celebrate with dinner out. Play games, share the things you’re grateful for this past year, and talk about what you’re looking forward to in the coming year.

Holiday Gift Shopping

The hustle and bustle of the holiday season can be fun, but getting all of your shopping finished before the holiday season is great as well! Set your budget, make your lists, and put a few hours on the calendar. Fuel up before you shop with a meal at your favorite restaurant. End your night with a treat and make another date to sit down and wrap everything together.
