Pumpkin Patches in Davis County: Fun Fall Date Ideas

This post was updated in October 2025.

When I think of October, the first thing that comes to mind is pumpkins! A pumpkin patch date night is one of the simplest ways to celebrate the season, and a reminder of why I love fall so much (even if spooky Halloween vibes aren’t really my thing).

Luckily, there are plenty of pumpkin patches right here in Davis County where you can support local farmers while picking out the perfect pumpkins together. After your patch visit, bring them home for some carving fun, whether you go for a creative design, a spooky face, or something silly. Then light up your masterpieces, sip on hot chocolate, and enjoy a cozy fall evening watching your jack-o’-lanterns glow.

Davis County Pumpkin Patches

Cross E Ranch

Location: 3500 N. 2200 W., Salt Lake City (just west, off the Center Street exit in North Salt Lake)

We first visited Cross E Ranch a few years ago, and it’s one of those places I look forward to returning to every fall. They update their site each season with details on the types of pumpkins available for purchase, so check before you go if you’re on the hunt for something specific. Put Cross E Ranch on your fall calendar. Between the food, the maze, and the pumpkin patch, it’s the kind of spot that makes October date nights unforgettable.

If we were going on a date night here… I’d hope for a cozy date night, grabbing something tasty from the concession stand, wandering the corn maze hand-in-hand, and of course, picking out a pumpkin (or two!) to take home.

Black Island Farms

Location: 2075 4000 W, Syracuse

Pumpkin patch hayrides are one of the highlights of fall at Black Island Farms! For $10 per adult, you can hop on a hayride that takes you straight to the pumpkin patch. Each ticket includes one pumpkin of your choice, picked right off the vine. If you’d rather shop without the ride, you can also find plenty of pumpkins at their farmer’s market.

If I were going on a date night here… I’d take the hayride out to the patch, wander the rows looking for the perfect pumpkin together, and then head back for some seasonal snacks or treats before calling it a night. There’s just something extra fun about taking home a pumpkin that you’ve picked right from the field!

Pack Farms

Location: 1802 W Glovers Lane, Farmington

We’ve taken our kids to Pack Farms almost every year, and it’s always a favorite fall outing. The kids love exploring the farm and picking out their pumpkins, and it’s a tradition that never gets old.

One of the best things about Pack Farms is the price! It’s just $5 per person for entry, and then pumpkins are an additional cost. That makes it one of the most affordable pumpkin patch experiences in the area. You’ll also find plenty of winter squash and fun pumpkin varieties, perfect for fall decorating or cooking up something delicious.

If we were going on a family date here… We’d let the kids run through the hay maze and activities before heading to the pumpkins to choose their favorites. Then we’d head home to carve, cook, or decorate together. It’s simple, budget-friendly, and full of family fun.

Day Farms

Location: Gentile Stand @ 2500 W Gentile St, Layton OR U Pick Pumpkins @ 300 S 2200 W, Layton

For a simple and authentic pumpkin-picking experience, check out the Day Farm’s Gentile Stand & U-Pick Pumpkin Field. Their farm stand is stocked with decorative pumpkins, winter squash, and potatoes perfect for porch décor or fall recipes.

The U-Pick Pumpkin Field opens October 10 (weather permitting) and runs through Halloween or until pumpkins run out. Pricing is $6 for any size pumpkin. Hours are Mondays and Fridays from 4–6 p.m., and Saturdays from 2–6 p.m.

If we were going on a date night here… We’d plan it as a relaxed evening. Grab an early dinner with favorite fall flavors, swing by to wander the patch and pick a pumpkin, then head home to carve while sipping cider and watching a Halloween classic together. Sometimes the simplest dates make the best memories.

Our kids are old enough to enjoy squishing their hands through the scooped out pumpkin, but my husband and I aren't fans of the actual carving so I think this year we will decorate our pumpkins with fun kits like these (affiliate).
