My love language is quality time so one of the best gifts that my husband could give me is a date night out together. When it comes time for his birthday or Father's Day, I like to plan a special date just for him, because spending time alone together is one of the ways that I show love, but also because quality time is right up there at the top of his love languages as well.
I think that date nights are a great way to thank your husband for being your partner in parenting and helping you create and raise your cute kiddos. If you can get away together in the few days leading up to or after Father's Day, I suggest planning a date night using one of the ideas below!
Date Night Ideas for Father's Day
Food Truck Roundups
The thing that I love about food truck roundups is that you can get a variety of different foods and try them all. There's also no arguing over where to go and whose cravings are the most important, so even though you're celebrating your husband, you can still get something that you want to eat as well ;) There is a food truck to fit both of your dinner desires. If the two of you are outdoorsy and adventurous, tailor your date night fun to that. Explore one of the area's many trails, go geocaching, take a walk through the botanical gardens or one of the many nature trails in the heart of our county, or go fishing. Pack a picnic and make a day of it! If you're feeling extra excited about the outdoors, you could make an overnight of it and go camping.
Most men love to fish and would love to spend a morning or late afternoon relaxing next to the water with you and maybe the kids too. Click here for a list of the best fishing ponds in Davis County.
Every year on Father's Day weekend, the Bountiful Rotary club puts on a free Car Show to benefit their Coats for Kids fundraiser. There are cool cars, yummy food trucks and fun activities for the whole family. Click here for details on Friday's activities and click here for Saturday's details.
Take your husband out for a good steak dinner or grill one at home. Mo Bettah Steaks (Bountiful), Texas Roadhouse (Bountiful and Layton), Parkstone Wood Kitchen (Farmington), Corbin's Grille (Layton), and Outback Steakhouse (Layton) are all great locations to get a quality steak dinner in Davis County.
Tickets to a Future Event
I mentioned grabbing tickets or a gift card to see a play or musical in the future, but that can be applied to any event. I recently grabbed tickets for our favorite comedian who's coming to town at the end of the year. His performance is seven months away, but I'm excited to surprise my husband with a date night out that's a little bit of a splurge for us. No matter your budget, I know you will be able to find an event that the woman in your life would love to attend. If tickets aren't required, but you want to plan it as a date, make up your own "ticket" and gift it to her to let her know it's in the plans.
Research has shown that couples who laugh together are happier across the board. It seems obvious when I type it all out. Some of our most memorable date nights have been ones when I remember laughing together, whether it was at a comedy routine, over a movie or just sharing stories and jokes with each other. We've loved late night dates to The Improvables, right here in the community. We also loved going to Wiseguys on a date earlier this year and love that they have a two for one ticket deal to make it a cheaper price.
Click here to check out the Davis County Golf Passport from Play in Davis. If a full round of golf out on the course isn't your thing, try mini golf. Cherry Hill in Kaysville, Boondocks in Kaysville and The Rush Funplex in Syracuse (glow-in-the-dark mini golf) are all great locations for mini golf.
Family Date Night
Activities out as a family are always a lot of fun, and what better way to celebrate the mother in your life than by involving the kids? Dartside in Layton, mini golf and pocket pies at Cherry Hill, an afternoon at Station Park or a visit to the Seaquest Aquarium are just a few ideas to get you started.
This would be a great way to end the day when you've been on a family date or doing something with the kids. We've enjoyed dessert at home, like these Chip Chip Cookies or our very favorite cookie skillet. There are a lot of great dessert locations in the area for going out after the kids are in bed. We love grabbing gelato and sitting around the fountains or playing games while we enjoy donuts and hot chocolate or ice cream at Johnny O's. Head to your favorite dessert spot or pick something up to enjoy at home!
