Cafe Sabor is a great anniversary option if you’re craving bold flavors and a lively dining experience. Their menu is full of tacos, burritos, and other Mexican favorites. It’s one of those places where just about anything you order is a win. I recommend sharing a few dishes, because it will be hard to pick just one thing, and sharing is the perfect excuse to try more than one favorite together.

While the atmosphere is upbeat and bustling, each table still feels surprisingly tucked away and comfortable for a date. The train station theme is fun, with a patio that’s nestled right next to the tracks for added energy while you eat. Romantic & Classic Anniversary Date Ideas

Grab Dinner and Dessert

There’s a reason that dinner and dessert are the most classic anniversary date. It’s a simple, flexible date that feels special when done with intention. Many of the anniversary-worthy restaurants listed above offer great dessert options, making it easy to enjoy a full evening in one place. You can linger a little longer, split something sweet, and soak in the moment without rushing off to the next stop.

This type of anniversary date also gives you freedom with the vibe you want to go for. Dress up and make the night feel extra special, or keep things more casual and still enjoy a meaningful celebration together. Whether it’s your favorite spot or somewhere new you’ve been wanting to try, dinner and dessert are an easy way to mark your anniversary in a way that feels both familiar and special.

Visit Places of Significance to Your Relationship

Anniversaries are a natural time to look back and remember the moments that shaped your relationship. One meaningful way to celebrate is by visiting a place (or places) that holds special memories for you as a couple. It might be where you went on your first date, where you got engaged, or a spot tied to an early memory you still talk about years later.

Plan ahead! Spend some time talking through what you want this date to feel like. Decide how much time you have, what kind of experience you’re hoping for, and where you’ll go or what you’ll do. Make reservations and settle on your itinerary for the date. From there, let the focus of your time together be on reminiscing. Talk about what that season of your relationship was like, what you remember most, and how far you’ve come since then. This kind of anniversary celebration can be deeply personal and incredibly meaningful.

Plan an Anniversary Photo Shoot

An anniversary photo shoot is a meaningful way to celebrate your relationship and capture the season you’re in right now. It doesn’t have to be formal or over-the-top to be special! It can be a simple mini-session that provides you with an intentional opportunity to pause, reflect, and document how far you’ve come together.

Consider choosing a location that already holds meaning for you, or using your home base as a place to capture your current season of life, or even a beautiful location near you. Plan around gold hour, dress up for the occasion, or keep things casual and comfortable. You want this photo shoot to feel like you, maybe with similar thoughts towards your outfits and location as you had when you took engagement photos early on in your marriage.

Pair this with one of the other classic date ideas in this post! Schedule photos before a fancy dinner out, combine them with a sunset picnic, or play a staycation and include photos as part of the experience. You will love having these images to remind you of this moment in time in your relationship, the same as you feel about the engagement and wedding photos you took early on.

Enjoy a Sunset Picnic

A sunset picnic is a simple, romantic way to slow down and enjoy being together on your anniversary. Pack a few favorite snacks, grab takeout, or keep it easy with dessert and drinks. Find a spot where you can sit side by side and watch the day wind down. The goal isn’t an elaborate setup, although that can be fun to. The goal is to create space where you can talk, reflect, and enjoy a quiet moment together.

Bountiful Boulevard (just north of 1800 S) is a great low-key option for watching the sunset without much effort. You can park on the west side of the road, set up a simple picnic, and enjoy the view as the sun dips below the mountains over the valley below. This is perfect if you want something relaxed and easy to fit into your evening.

For a slightly more active option, Wild Rose Trail offers a short hike to an overlook with a bench that’s ideal for a sunset picnic. It’s a fun spot to watch planes take off and land at the nearby airport while the sky changes colors, making it feel like a little adventure without a big time commitment. This was part of our anniversary date one year and has been a highlight memory for me.

Go Stargazing

Stargazing is a simple but meaningful way to celebrate an anniversary, especially if you’re looking for something quiet and unhurried. Laying out a blanket, pointing out constellations, and talking under the stars naturally invites connection and reflection, no big plan required.

Antelope Island is an especially great option since it’s a designated dark sky park, making it easier to see stars, planets, and even the Milky Walk on a clear night. To make the date even more fun, Davis County Library branches offer telescopes that can be reserved and checked out for a full week. This is perfect for turning stargazing into a hands-on anniversary experience, at no cost to you, no matter where you go.

If your anniversary falls during the summer months when the road is open, the top of Farmington Canyon is another great stargazing spot with cooler temperatures and wide-open views of the night sky. And if getting out feels like too much, don’t underestimate the magic of stargazing from your own backyard or a quiet local park. Sometimes the most meaningful anniversary moments happen close to home, with nothing but time and conversation between you.

Go for a Couples Massage or Spa Day

If your ideal anniversary celebration includes slowing down, relaxing, and being fully taken care of, a couples massage or spa day is a wonderful way to mark the occasion. These experiences are designed to help you disconnect from everyday stress and reconnect with each other, making them especially fitting for an anniversary.

Beyond Spa (2261 N Hill Field Rd, Layton) is my personal favorite spa in Davis County and a beautiful choice for an anniversary. Their Romantic Retreat package for couples includes a 50-minute candlelit aromatherapy couples massage, a rose-petal passion pedicure for two, and thoughtful extras like sparkling cider, cheese and crackers, chocolates, and frozen grapes. You can also book a couples massage on its own! Book in their outdoor massage suite, which includes time to relax in outdoor foot soaks afterward. If you book the Luxe Suite, you’ll enjoy your massage by the fireplace followed by private time with a soaking tub, outdoor patio, restroom, and shower.

Other great local options for couples massages and spa experiences include Spa One (1706 N Heritage Park Blvd, Suite 1, Layton), Juniper Spa (652 N Kays Dr, Suite 3, Kaysville), and Sego Lily Spa (1664 N Woodland Park Dr, Layton or 401 W 500 S, Bountiful). Each offers couples massage options and packages that make it easy to turn your anniversary into a relaxing, indulgent experience without leaving Davis County.

Book a Staycation

If you want your anniversary to feel like a true getaway without traveling far, consider booking a staycation somewhere in Davis County. Staying overnight gives you built-in space to slow down, explore, and treat your anniversary like an experience instead of just a night out. If you’re looking to save money, staying at home but planning day and evening itineraries in different parts of the county can be fun.

As you plan your staycation, focus on trying things in the area you’re staying that feel new or different to you. This might mean visiting a restaurant you’ve had on your list but haven’t tried yet. Check out a locally owned spot you usually drive past, or spend time doing the kinds of activities visitors come to Davis County for. Exploring Antelope Island, spending a day at Lagoon Amusement Park, attending a local community theater performance, or building your itinerary around food, activities (like the ones in the next section), and sightseeing can turn a simple day or two into a memorable anniversary celebration.

Indoor Adventurous Anniversary Dates

Try an Escape Room

If you enjoy solving puzzles, cracking clues, and working as a team, an escape room makes a surprisingly great anniversary date! It’s interactive and engaging, giving you the chance to collaborate and communicate in a fun, low-pressure way. All while doing something a little out of the ordinary. You can book a private room just for the two of you or bring your family or friends with you and turn it into a group anniversary experience. An escape room is a memorable, teamwork-focused way to celebrate your anniversary.

There are three escape room locations in Davis County that offer a variety of themed rooms and allow you to book for groups of 2-8 people. You will not be placed in a room with anyone outside of your booking. Big Brain Escape (600 N 500 W Suite C, Bountiful) currently has four rooms with mystery-focused themes. Go Axe Throwing

If you’re looking for an anniversary date that’s active, playful, and a little competitive, axe throwing is a fun way to switch things up. It’s surprisingly easy to pick up, gives you the chance to cheer each other on, and naturally leads to laughter and lighthearted competition. Whether you’re aiming for bragging rights or just enjoying the experience, axe throwing makes for a memorable, hands-on anniversary date.

Davis County has a couple of great local options for axe throwing. Take Dance Lessons

Dancing makes a fun and meaningful anniversary date because it combines movement, possibly learning something new, physical touch, and intentional time together. Whether you’re laughing through your first few steps or building a new skill over time, dancing encourages connection, communication, and a little vulnerability.

Premier Ballroom Academy (967 McCormick Way, Suite 2, Layton) regularly hosts couples’ nights for swing dancing along with workshops and structured courses. They also offer monthly series if you want to keep learning together and build your swing or ballroom skills more consistently. Another great option is the Davis Community Classes hosted through the school district. These classes often include adult dance options you can attend one time or weekly for a few months, making it easy to try something new without a long-term commitment.

If you’d rather keep things casual, learning at home can be just as fun. Follow a YouTube tutorial together, then take your new moves out into the world! Head to a local dance night to show off your skills or pull over somewhere scenic, turn on your favorite song, and enjoy an intimate dance together right where you are.

Ride Go-Karts

If you’re looking for an anniversary date that’s playful, energetic, and full of laughs, go-kart racing is a fun way to celebrate. Whether you’re racing competitively or just enjoying the ride, go-karts create a shared experience that feels lighthearted and memorable, perfect for couples who like a little friendly competition.

You can race locally at Boondocks (525 Deseret Dr., Kaysville), which offers outdoor go-karts that feel especially fun in warmer weather. For a year-round option, The Rush Funplex (1806 S 2000 W, Syracuse) features an indoor go-kart track with a blacklight course that adds an extra layer of excitement to the experience.

It’s fast-paced without being overwhelming and works especially well if you’re looking for something active that doesn’t require a big learning curve. Whether you’re teaming up or going head-to-head, it’s an easy way to break out of routine and have fun together.

These courses combine balance, movement, and problem-solving, making them a great option for couples who enjoy cheering each other on and trying something new side by side.

Active Outdoor Anniversary Dates

Hike in the Mountains

Whether you’re looking for a short, scenic stroll or a longer hike that feels like a true adventure, getting outside together creates space for conversation, connection, and shared accomplishment.

One of the best parts about hiking in Davis County is the variety of trail options available. From paved paths and gentle canyon walks to steeper mountain trails with rewarding views, there’s something that fits almost every season and energy level. And there’s almost always a waterfall at the end of the trail, or somewhere along the way. To help you choose a hike that works for both of you, Davis County offers an interactive trails map for the area that lets you filter by destination, elevation gain, and difficulty. It’s a great tool for planning an anniversary hike that feels enjoyable and not too overwhelming.

Take a Scenic Bike Ride

A scenic bike ride is a great anniversary date if you want something active but unhurried. Riding side by side gives you time to talk, take in the views, and enjoy being outside together without the intensity of a long hike or big adventure. It’s easy to adjust the pace and distance, making this a date that can be as relaxed or energizing as you want it to be.

If you don’t have bikes, or want to try something new, there are great local e-bike rental options. Antelope E-bikes (1246 Flint Meadow Dr., #104, Kaysville) offers e-bike rentals that make longer rides or gentle hills more approachable. Great Western Bikes (358 W 500 S, Bountiful) rents e-bikes as well, including fat tired bikes that work well for winter riding and varied conditions.

For an easy, traffic-free route, the Legacy Parkway Trail runs north to south along the west side of Davis County and is a great option for a safe, scenic ride away from cars and crowds. If you want something that feels even more unique, take your bikes out to Antelope Island and ride the island roads, enjoying wide-open views and a completely different perspective of a place you may already know well.

Rent UTVs for a Mountain Drive

If you want your anniversary date to feel adventurous while still being accessible, renting UTVs for a mountain drive is a fun way to explore the outdoors and all that Davis County has to offer together. This type of date lets you cover more ground, enjoy incredible scenery, and experience the mountains in a way that feels exciting without requiring a long hike or advanced outdoor skills. Mountain areas above Davis County, like Farmington Canyon, offer scenic routes that are popular for UTV riding when seasonal road access is open.

Catching a show at the community theatre makes a fun and meaningful anniversary date. People Watch at Station Park

People watching is a relaxed, low-key anniversary date that still feels intentional, especially when you pair it with a favorite drink or treat. It’s perfect if you want to slow down, talk, and enjoy being together without committing to a full activity or schedule. Station Park is an ideal spot for this kind of date, thanks to the open seating and lively atmosphere around the fountains. Grab a drink from Fiiz (right by the fountains) or pick up a crepe from Dali Crepes, located on the west side of the fountain area, and settle in to enjoy the evening.

Every so often, the music turns up and the fountains come alive with a short fountain show. It’s an unexpected little moment that makes this spot feel extra special. On one of our early dates here, we stayed until closing and watched a sweet couple dancing together near the fountains during the last show of the night. It’s those small, unplanned moments that make a simple date feel memorable.

If you want to turn people watching into more of a full anniversary outing, nearby patio dining is an easy option. Restaurants like P.F. Chang’s, Twigs Bistro and Martini Bar, and WildFin American Grill all offer outdoor seating where you can enjoy a meal while still soaking in the energy of the area.

Drinks + Local Bookstore Date

A drinks-and-bookstore date is a cozy, low-key way to celebrate your anniversary while slowing down and enjoying meaningful conversation. Wandering through shelves together, sharing favorite genres, or picking out something for each other creates a relaxed experience that feels intentional without being complicated.

For locally owned options, The Book Garden (2 N Main St, Bountiful) and Kaysville Bookstore (550 Main St #5, Kaysville) are both great places to browse and explore together. If you’re looking for something familiar, Barnes & Noble has multiple locations across Davis County and makes for an easy, comfortable stop.

For a budget-friendly twist, you can also turn this into a library date by visiting a local branch of the Davis County Library. Wander the stacks, pick out something to read, or even choose a book for each other. Then head out for drinks afterward and read your books side by side.

Cooking/Baking Class

Cooking or baking together blends creativity, teamwork, and time together in a really natural way. Preparing something side by side gives you space to talk, laugh, and collaborate and you get to enjoy the results together at the end, which always feels celebratory. For an in-person experience, Harmon's at Station Park regularly offers fun, hands-on cooking and baking classes that work well for date nights and special occasions. These classes are a great option if you want a guided experience without having to plan every detail yourself. Check out our Upcoming Events page to see what classes might be happening during your anniversary celebration.

If staying in sounds more appealing, learning at home can be just as special. Follow an online tutorial together, plan a themed meal, or turn your kitchen into the date destination. For couples who enjoy structure and built-in prompts, The Adventure Challenge Dinner Dates or Date Night In offer guided recipes and conversation starters that work especially well for anniversaries and future date nights alike.

Take a Nature Walk

A nature walk is one of the simplest ways to celebrate your anniversary. Walking side by side creates space for conversation, reflection, and connection without any pressure to perform or plan something elaborate. It’s an easy reminder that sometimes the best dates are the quiet ones.

Farmington Bay, the Kaysville Ponds, Jensen Nature Park, Mueller Park, and Shorelands Preserve all offer scenic paths that work well for a relaxed stroll, whether you’re watching wildlife, enjoying seasonal changes, or simply getting some fresh air together.

And if getting out to a destination feels like too much, don’t overlook the charm of a quiet walk close to home. Davis County neighborhoods are full of secluded paths, tree-lined streets, and peaceful pockets that make a neighborhood walk just as connecting as a planned outing.
